Mary Ann Norrell Brock

Mrs. Mary Ann Norrell Brock ,age  85, of Gainesville passed away Friday, July 31, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born in Hall County, Georgia on January 22, 1930, Mary Ann was the daughter of the late Grover and Ophelia Norrell, and was married to Benjamin Lamar Brock.  She began her professional career in administration at the Gainesville Hosiery Mill, where she worked for a number of years.  She retired from Seymour Foods after serving as Office Manager for over 25 years.

Mary Ann was an active member of her church, Dunagan Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was a member for 52 years.  During this time, she served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Missions Committee, and she shared her love of music with her alto voice in the church choir.

In addition to her love of flowers, she and her husband Ben maintained a large garden which provided family and friends with a wide array of fresh vegatables each summer.  Her many talents included crocheting, needle point, and ceramics.  Mary Ann was often found making baby blankets, afghans, scarves, hats and gloves.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister Evelyn Norrell Bagwell; brother William "Billy" Norrell; sisters-in-law Winnie Brock Poole and Marian Brock Jones; brothers-in-law Acie L. Griffin and Bobby Vasco Poole; and niece Ouida Griffin Adams.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Benjamin Lamar Brock; sisters-in-law Evelyn Norrell and Carolyn Brock Griffin; brother-in-law Robert Earl Brock (Pauline); many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and her special friend, Becky Latty.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2015 at Little & Davenport Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Dunagan Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Sunday August 2, 2015 from 2:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. at Little & Davenport Funeral Home, 355 Dawsonville Highway, Gainesville, Georgia 30501.
