Hassie Faye Bishop, age 79, of Gainesville, dedicated Wife of 60 years, Loving Mother and Grandmother passed into God's hands following a brief illness on Wednesday, July 29, 2015.
Hassie was born November 5, 1934 in Hall County to Emory R. and Alice Belle Cain. A lifelong resident of Hall county, she attended the local school system graduating from Riverbend High School. She married Gary Bishop in 1955. They began their married life in Cleveland and ultimately made their home in Gainesville, Georgia. Hassie was a member of New Bridge Baptist Church for 70 years. She served as Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, youth coordinator and choir member for 30 years. Her faith in God and her assurance of Christ as Savior were the foundation of life and beliefs.
Mrs. Bishop leaves behind her husband Gary Bishop, son Ty Bishop and daughter-in-law Vicki, grandchildren Ember Bishop of Atlanta and Tyrone Bishop of Augusta. Sisters, Mrs. Idell Satterfield and Mrs. Frankie Lee (Royce) and brother, Johnny Cain (Vivian) along with several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by brothers T.J. Cain and Dennis Cain and sister Lucille Andrews and brother-in-law Gurley Satterfield.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday August 1, 2015 at New Bridge Baptist Church. The Rev. Milton Harris will officiate. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
