Arthur “Art” C. Dover, U.S. Air Force Retired, 82, of Dawsonville passed away Monday July 27, 2015 at Sonshine Manor following an extended illness.
Born May 19, 1933 to the late Roland and Nora Dover, he had been a resident of Dawsonville for over 20 years. A Vietnam veteran, he served as a Staff Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force Police where he retired after 20 years of service. He was a proud member of VVA Chapter 970 and McKee’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Mr. Dover also worked with Dawson County at the cannery, transfer station, and courthouse for a number of years. He enjoyed bluegrass music and square dancing. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Jodie Dover and brothers, Ralph Dover and Herman Dover.
Surviving are his wife, Lanelle Dover, Dawsonville; daughter, Tina Dover Edwards, Smyrna; grandchildren, Meaghan Edwards, Amanda King, Jesse Gutierrez; sister, Lenora Murphy, Alabama; sister in law, Delores Dover, Dallas, GA; a number of other relatives.
Memorial services will be held Saturday August 1, 2015 at 1 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Chaplain Vic Wallace will officiate. Interment will follow in the McKee’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
