Funeral services for Douglas Erwin Skelton, age 60, of Clarkesville will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at 3:00 PM from the Hillside Memorial Chapel. Dr. Don Samples and Mr. Melvin Stephens will officiate with interment to follow the service in Hillside Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Skelton passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015 following a period of declining health.
Born on in Habersham County on July 16, 1955, Mr. Skelton was the son of the late Leslie and Oma Lee Church Skelton. Mr. Skelton was a licensed insurance agent and the owner of the Skelton Insurance Agency. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. In addition to his parents Mr. Skelton is preceded in death by sister Janice Skelton Knight.
Survivors include daughter Lindsey Skelton of Florida, sister and brother in law Delores and James Carroll of Marietta, brother in law John Knight of Clarkesville, nephews and nieces Marty Knight (Cindy), Scott Knight, Chad Carroll, Kimberly Carroll Stone (Ron), great nephew Jonathan Knight (Katelan) and great niece Taylor Stone.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, July 25, 2015 from 4 - 8 PM.
