J.A. Underwood

J.A. Underwood, age 91, of Gainesville, GA passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015.

He was born and raised in Pendergrass, GA and retired from Jackson EMC. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Hall County.

J.A. was the son of the late Paul and Sarah Underwood, and was also preceded in death by his 9 siblings.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sylvia Gee Underwood, Gainesville, GA; son, Kenneth Underwood, Jefferson, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Lisa Underwood, Gainesville, GA; grandsons, Jonathan and Justin Underwood, Gainesville, GA; granddaughter, Kelli Rogers, Lawrenceville, GA; brother, Henry Underwood; and sister, Sarah Nell Bruce , both of Pendergrass, GA. 7 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

A graveside service for J.A. will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Hall County.

Rev. Brian Malcolm will officiate.

The family will receive friends at Hillside Chapel Funeral Home in Gainesville, GA from 10 AM until 11 AM on Saturday, July 25, 2015.
