Barbara Connolly Thomas

Barbara Connolly Thomas, age 87 passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Joanne’s House of Hospice at Bonita Springs, Florida.

She was born in Central Falls, R.I. on May 1, 1928. She was the loving daughter of Joseph and Lillian Connolly, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all the lives she touched. She resided in Toccoa, Ga. where she was a member of St. Matthias Episcopal Church. She was a founding member of Daughters of the King at St. Matthias, a member of the choir, altar guild, on the vestry and diocese committee. She was an avid bridge player, loved to read, and loved the beach.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack Thomas, her daughter Susan Hawkins, her granddaughter, Britton Thomas and sister Bertha Guimond. She retired to Naples, Florida 24 years ago and resided with her loving brother, Joseph Connolly and late sister Bertha Guimond.

Barbara is survived by her children, Mark (Maryanne) Thomas, and Steven (Debbie) Thomas of Toccoa. She is survived by her 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on August 7, 2015, 12:30 PM at St. Matthias Episcopal Church, Toccoa, Georgia with The Very Reverend Mary Demmler officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:30 until 12:30 prior to the service.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthias Episcopal Church, 995 E, Tugaloo St., Toccoa, Ga. 30577 or Hope Hospice, 9470 Health Park Circle, Ft. Myers, Florida 33908.  

Inurnment will follow in Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Barbara Connolly Thomas.
