John Lanier Darnell

Mr. Darnell was born on December 2, 1923, in Jasper, GA to the late Zeb and Grace Hendrix Darnell. He was of the Presbyterian faith.  Mr. Darnell attended Georgia Tech and was a diehard Yellow Jackets fan.  He was a veteran of the United States Marines, having served his country honorably during World War II.   Mr. Darnell was retired from Sears and Roebuck with many years of loyal and dedicated service. 

Survivors include his wife; Sarah Sue Darnell, Clarkesville, GA; sons, Johnny Darnell, AL; David Darnell, Marietta, GA; daughters, Gail Bullington, Danville, GA, Debbie Lackey, Atlanta, GA, Julie Conner, Salem, SC, Mindy Darnell, Marietta, GA; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:30 on Monday, July 20, 2015, at Whitfield North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Dr. Kennedy Smartt officiating. Interment will be held at The Georgia National Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Marine Corp at a later date. 

The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until the funeral hour on Monday, July 20, 2015 at Whitfield Funeral Home North Chapel.
