Sandra Henson Gaither

Sandra Henson Gaither passed away on Thursday July 16, 2015 in Gainesville, Georgia.

She was born on November 20, 1941 to Ponce de Leon (P.D) and Fannie Arthur Henson. She was a graduate of Gainesville High School. She studied education at Brenau University and did graduate work at the University of Georgia.

She met and married Guy Gaither to whom she was happily married for many years. She taught school for 30 years and retired from Gainesville City Schools.  She continued to serve her community by teaching adult literacy at Lanier Technical College for over 20 years.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents P.D. and Fannie Henson, her husband Homer “Guy” Gaither, her brothers, Leon Henson, Billy Henson and Ronnie Henson; her sisters, Sarah Mangum and Joan Owenby.

She is survived by her brother, Jimmy Henson and her sister Jean Pless and many nieces and nephews to whom she was very close.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2015 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Dr. Jerry Gill will officiate. Interment will be in Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, July 18, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
