Lewis McDonald, age 76, of Alto, Georgia passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015 following a sudden illness.
Mr. McDonald was born on January 21, 1939 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late William Dewey and Laura Owens McDonald. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son, William Flint McDonald. He had served as a long-standing Deacon at Enon Baptist Church. He served his country honorably as a veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. McDonald was retired from Northeast Georgia Medical Center. He was a “city boy”, that because of his love of his wife, Joyce of 51 years, he returned to their family farm operation.
In addition to his beloved wife, Joyce Barrett McDonald, he is survived by daughters, daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly and Jerry Garmon, of Gainesville; Lisa and Doug Saxon, of Alto; sisters, Louise Roper, of Gainesville; Linda Overby, of Gainesville; grandchildren, Austin Saxon, Logen Saxon, Baylee Saxon, Sydney Saxon, McClairin Garmon; and great grandchild, Ava Saxon.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Whitfield Funeral Home South Chapel with Rev. Bill Carpenter and Rev. Doug Saxton. Interment will follow in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Roper officiating and full military honors.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., on Saturday, July 11, 2015.
