William Pete Rocksandich, 79, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2015 after a long illness.
Known as “Bill” or “Rocky” to his many friends, he was born in1936in Shohola, Pa., the son of Matilda Loeblein Rocksandich and Milos Rocksandich of Indianapolis, Indiana. Matilda later married Harold Eckert from Shohola, Pa. who was a loving step-father to Bill. He grew up in Shohola, Pa. and attended Shohola Elementary School and graduated from Milford High School in Milford, Pa.
He served in the U.S. Army 7th Aviation Div. from 1956-1958 in Tong Duchon, Korea after which he went to work for General Telephone Company until his retirement.
Bill lived in Tampa, Florida for many years before retiring to Sky Lake, GA in 1989. He loved playing tennis, was an avid golfer for many years and loved the outdoors. He was also a huge sports fan, rooting for the Atlanta Falcons, the Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. He spent many years of his retirement volunteering in the Sky Lake community.
Bill was a loving father, grandfather and brother. He was preceded in death by his brother Milos Rocksandich and his sister Dorothy Rocksandich. He is survived by his daughter Leesha Torppey, her husband Shawn, and three loving grandchildren, Dillon, Zachary and Faith, of Hardwick, NJ; his sister Jean Gross and her husband Hans of Pine Island, NY; nieces Andrea Coleman and Linda Gross Ommendson, many great nieces and nephews; many beloved friends including Bill and Marsha Michaels of Clarksville, GA and Grannon Thompson of Sky Lake, GA, and all of the coffee crew at Sky Lake, GA.
