Wayne Satterfield, age 80 of Cumming, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2015, peacefully at his home after a 2 1/2 year battle of Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Homer Virgil and Mattie Ashingback Satterfield; sister, Thelma McGaha Richards; brothers, H.V., Hubert and Hughey Satterfield; sister-in-law, Helen Satterfield; brothers-in-law, Rev. Carl McGaha and Ray McCleskey; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Albert and Lois Grogan Wallis.
Wayne was owner and operator of Wayne's Upholstery for 55 years. A member of New Harmony Baptist Church for 70 years. He served in the U. S. Army from 1956 to 1959. He enjoyed his work, being with his family, traveling and working in his yard.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 60 years Imogene Wallis Satterfield; daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Keith Sapp; daughter, Tammy Satterfield all of Cumming; twin sister, Wyolene McCleskey; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Betty Satterfield; sister-in-law, Thena Mae Satterfield; brother-in-law, Weldon (Buddy) Richards; 2 step grand-daughters, Catie Schreiman, Kimberly and Dan Young; 2 step-grandsons, Dr. Alex Sapp and Kevin Sapp; 2 step-great-grandchildren, MaryAnne and Benton Young; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Peggy and Morris Gilreath of Gainesville. Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. A special "Thank You" to the Pruitt Hospice of Gainesville Georgia.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 6th at 2:00 pm at New Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Purcell and Rev. Jerry Orr officiating. Remains will be placed in state at the Church at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12:00 noon until 9:00 pm and Monday from 10:00 am until hour of the service.
