David Jonathon Whitaker

David Jonathon Whitaker, age 43, of Mt. Airy, passed away Friday, July 3, 2015.

Born on April 29, 1972, in Habersham, County, he was a son of the late George and Barbara Bressman Whitaker.  He was formerly employed with Habersham County School System, was an accomplished mechanic and was of the Baptist faith.  Mr. Whitaker was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and fishing with his son, laughing and joking with his kids and holding his grandbaby in his arms.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Stephanie Whitaker.

Survivors include wife of 28 years, Lisa Kimsey Whitaker of Mt. Airy; daughter, Marina Denise Whitaker of Mt. Airy; son, Jonathon Keith Cole Whitaker of Mt. Airy; twin brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Melissa Whitaker of Blairsville; brother, Scott Whitaker of Titusville, Florida; sister, Patricia Vallies of Blairsville; grandson, Jonathon Carter Whitaker of Mt. Airy; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Nancy and Keith Kimsey of Mt. Airy; 15 nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are 2 pm Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Johnny Loudermilk officiating.  Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the service hour on Wednesday at the funeral home.
