Mrs. Beulah Cleo Barrett Freeman, age 99, of Cleveland passed away Saturday, June 28, 2015, at the Oaks at Scenic View in Baldwin.
Mrs. Freeman was born on January 7, 1916 to the late Egbert and Ida Duncan Barrett. She was a homemaker, retired from Talon and the oldest member of Chattahoochee Baptist Church. Beulah was well-loved and knew how to love so well. She loved the Lord, her Church, her family and her friends. She loved to cook and draw/paint, two skills she had a gift for and loved to share with others.
Her well-worn bible was always close to her side. At home, and later in the nursing home, she kept it on the table right next to her. There was no doubt when you looked at it that it was used every day; pages and covers worn, papers and pictures stored within the words that she knew so well. She loved to share stories of her childhood and her family growing up. She would talk about being skilled at picking cotton as a young girl, riding a mule down to the creek or the jokes she would play on her siblings. She never lost her sense of humor and loved to tease and play jokes on people.
She was quick to smile and laugh, proud of her family and generous with her love. She let you know that she loved you and she let others know as well. She will be missed deeply by the people left here who she spent 99 years loving so well, but she missed many of her loved ones who had been called home before her and it is comforting to know she is with them again.
Mrs. Freeman was preceded in death by her husband, JC Freeman; son, Geneal Thomas Freeman; sisters and brothers in law, Mae and Claud Bowen, and Cletis and Leland Garrett; brothers and sisters in law, Carl and Cleo Barrett, Wiley and Nellie Barrett, and Harlin and Nelia Barrett; and brother, Edward Pledger Barrett.
