Jonathan Barnes Johnson

Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. Jonathan Barnes Johnson, age 80 of Cleveland. John passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00am, Tuesday, June 30, 2015 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Lewis Fortner officiating. Following the service, John will be laid to rest in White Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Born in Oswego, New York on June 9, 1935, he was the son of the late Robert Johnson and Barbara Barnes Johnson. In 1952 John entered the United States Navy with a career that spanned over 20 years of honorable service. Following his retirement from the Navy, John began another career with Kraft Foods, where he aspired to the position as Director of Security, a title he would retain for some 20 plus years. In 1991 John and his family moved to White County where he was an active member of the White County Fire Department, serving as Safety Officer, in addition, John was an active member of White Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Lois Payne Johnson of Cleveland; son, John Johnson of Woodstock; daughter, Jan Johnson of Cleveland; step daughter, Dinia Hardy of Stafford, VA.and granddaughter, Hannah Wilkins also of Cleveland. Flowers will be acknowledged, however it is requested the memorial donations be made to White Creek Baptist Church, 1470 Webster Lake Rd., Cleveland, Georgia 30528.
