Mr. Frank Louis Hynes, age 68, of Gainesville, Georgia, formerly of Atlanta Georgia, passed away Tuesday June 23, 2015 following a valiant battle with Acute Myloid Leukemia (AML).
Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at St. Michael Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel with a Rosary service to be held following visitation at the funeral home.
Frank was born May 11, 1947 in Irving, Texas, the son of the late James John Hynes and Frances Lawrence Bussey Hynes. He graduated from Marist High School and went on to Georgia State University where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree. While at Georgia State he was a brother in the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He earned his law Degree from Woodrow Wilson School of Law. He served in the Georgia National Guard in the 170th Military Police Battalion. He also attended the FBI National Academy with the U.S. Department of Justice. Frank served on the Atlanta Police Department as the youngest Lieutenant in the departments’ history. Frank went on to the Coca-Cola Company where he became the World Wide Director of Corporate Security. Frank started his own company Frank Hynes and Associates after moving to God’s Country Gainesville, GA. Frank was involved in sports his entire life from baseball to basketball and football all through High School and College. As an adult he tried his hand at rowing and golf and was a far better rower than golfer. He remained an active member of the Lake Lanier Rowing Club until his death. Frank was an avid fisherman and had the thrill of his life last summer when he caught a sail fish in the Gulf of Mexico off of Panama City Beach, FL.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Stephen Lawrence Hynes and James John Hynes and a sister, Margaret (Peggy) Mary Hynes.
Frank is survived by the love of his life, wife, Ann Marie Hynes, of Gainesville; son, Frank Matthew Hynes of Colorado; daughters, E. Ansley Hynes-Michaud (Ignacio)of Atlanta, Audrey Kilinski (Andy)also of Atlanta; four grandchildren; brother, David Hynes(Kay)of Marietta; sister, Catherine Hynes of Atlanta; twin sister, Frances Reifler (Burton). Winston-Salem, NC; sister, Helen Pharr (Howard) of Atlanta; brother, Paul Hynes of Atlanta; sister, Laura Hynes Keller (Bob)of New York, NY; brother, Joe Hynes (Mary Anne) of Atlanta; sister, Julie Lococo (Peter)of Atlanta; 15 nieces and nephews; 20 great-nieces and nephews and number of other family and friends also survive.
