Helen Joan VanDalsem Stokes

Graveside services for Helen Joan VanDalsem Stokes, age 66, of Clarkesville will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 3:00 PM from the Oak Grove Cemetery in Americus, Georgia. 

Mrs. Stokes passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015 at her residence. 

Born in Moultrie, Georgia on May 8, 1949, Mrs. Stokes was the daughter of the late Ben B. and Helen Phelan Van Dalsen.  Mrs. Stokes earned her BA in Early Childhood Education from Piedmont College.  She retired from the Habersham County Board of Education where she was a teacher at Level Grove Elementary School.  Mrs. Stokes was a member of Clarkesville United Methodist Church.   

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stokes is preceded in death by a son Jason Robert Stokes. 

Survivors include her husband Gerald G. Stokes, Jr. of Clarkesville, son Gerald G. “Tre`” Stokes, III of Dixon, Illinois, daughter Elizabeth Alice Stafford of Clarkesville, and four grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, June 22, 2015 from 5-7 PM.
