George Wendell Underwood

George Wendell Underwood, 79, of Clayton, Georgia and Highlands, North Carolina died peacefully at his home on June 16, 2015.

Wendell was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 25, 1936 and was the son of the late George Roland Wendell and Ruth Gresham Underwood.  He was a member of the Class of 1954, North Fulton High School.  He was a longtime realtor and developer in the Atlanta, Sandy Springs area. He enjoyed his time building homes in Highlands, NC.  He was a member of the Buckhead Boys Club in Atlanta. He was an avid photographer and an adventurous man who loved to travel.

Surviving are his children: daughters and sons-in-law Mike and Wen Copeland; Chris and Doug Parks; Lynda Ann and Jim Loring; Tracey and Greg Clayton and son and daughter-in-law John and Mandy Underwood. Grandchildren – Michael Ann Copeland Cervantes (Christian), W. Taylor Copeland (Katie), Lauren Waddell, Miranda Parks, Savanna Clayton, Charlie Underwood, Aidan Loring, Brendan Loring, George Underwood and great-grandchild Tanner Gee. He is survived by his brother Charles Robert Underwood and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 PM to 3 PM, Friday, June 19, 2015 at Beck Funeral Home.  Services will follow in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel at 3 PM with Rev. Phil DeMore officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Reid Davis Underwood, Wendell’s great nephew who suffers with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), c/o Rabun County Bank, P.O. Box 845, Clayton, Georgia 30525.
