William P. (Willie) "Big Six" Dodd, age 77 of Cumming, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 11, 2015. Willie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, deacon and friend. He served in the United States Army from 1961-1967. He was ordained as one of the first deacons at Pine Crest Baptist Church and held many different church offices over 50 years. Willie fully served The Lord and enjoyed singing his praises. He was known all over the southeast by his CB handle, "Big Six". "Big Six" enjoyed his truck driving career for 44 years. After retirement he spent a lot of time with his friends at Unicoi Springs Camping Resort. Willie lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. His only grandchild was the light of his life. He will be truly missed by his loved ones. Willie is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Sarah Dodd; wife, Marie Dodd; sisters, Ida Mae Martin, Essie Gertrude Jackson; brother, Ronald Ernest Dodd Sr; mother-in-law, Sallie Collins.
He is survived by his children, Phillip Dodd of Cumming, Cynthia (Don) Harber; sister, Shelba Jean Anderson of Cumming; brother, Herbert (Evelyn) Dodd; sister-in-law, Martha Dodd; granddaughter, Alexis Harber, several nieces, nephews, cousins.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 14, 2015, 4:00 PM at Pine Crest Baptist Church with Rev. Craig Richard, Rev. Jackie Stewart, Rev. Dan Henderson, Rev. Carrel Pruitt, and Rev. Rocky Dodd officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens.
Mr. Dodd will lie-in-state at Pine Crest Baptist Church at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home, Friday, June 12th, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM and Sunday from 9:00 AM until the hour of service.
