Mary Louise Robinson

Mary Louise Robinson died peacefully in her home Wednesday, June 10, 2015 in Dahlonega, Georgia at the age of 84. 

 

Mrs. Robinson is survived by her husband, Hoyt Robinson of Dahlonega; children, Robin and Tim Milford, Margaret and Scott Hallam, Judi and Ted Flynt, and Patty and Walter Grindle of Dahlonega; sister Margo and Harold Jones of Naples, Florida; grandchildren, Ferris Gilreath; Alison Flynt; Keene Flynt; Ryan Milford; Tara Nichols; Justin Milford; Hillyer Peirce; Austin Grindle; Coleman Grindle of Dahlonega; great-grandchildren, Flynt Greene; Phoenix Milford; Lawson Greene; Michael Nichols; Marley Milford; Luke Nichols; Ellie Flynt; Jamye Milford; Abel Gilreath; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

 

Mrs. Robinson is preceded in death by parents, Jack and Ann Floyd of Gainesville, Georgia; siblings, Annette and George Wieland of Sacramento, California; Denman and Gladys Floyd of Peru, Indiana; Geneva Durkee of Decatur, Georgia.

 

Mrs. Robinson was born on March 12, 1931 in Gainesville, Georgia. She became a Christian at the age of 12 years old and attended Central Baptist Church in Gainesville.  She graduated from Gainesville High School in 1948 where she played basketball. She married Hoyt Robinson on July 21, 1956.  They moved to Dahlonega, Georgia, where she became a homemaker.  Over 7 years, the couple welcomed 4 daughters into their home where Mrs. Robinson set about teaching them Christian values and important life skills.  Her children remember her as a kind, gentle, and loving mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals and supported the various activities they participated in.  Mrs. Robinson was accomplished at business, cooking, and caregiving.  In addition, she worked with her husband on the Long Branch Dairy Farm.  She also was a secretary with Farm Bureau and worked in finance.  She was the manager for 15 years at the family business, the Long Branch Store.  She was a dedicated individual who loved everyone and who was passionate about life.  She was an active and dedicated member of the Dahlonega community and often volunteered at community organizations. Mrs. Robinson was a member of Dahlonega Baptist Church, where she was involved in several organizations and committees including teaching Sunday school, youth programs, Young People Sunday School Class, and training union.

 

Mrs. Robinson made a multitude of friends and was loved by many people.  She never hesitated to let others know that she cared about them.  She found joy in showing her love towards other people.  She always made you feel important and loved.  Mrs. Robinson was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. 

 

A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, June 13 at 2:00 pm at Dahlonega Baptist Church.  Reverend William Hutcheson will officiate the ceremony.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mrs. Robinson’s life. Family will receive friends on Thursday June 11 from 6pm until 8pm, and again on Friday from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm.  Burial will take place a Dahlonega Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Dahlonega Baptist Church’s Sonshine Preschool Program at 234 Hawkins Street, Dahlonega, GA 30533.
