Aubrey McIntyre,age 77, of Cleveland went home to be with the Lord June 7th, 2015. He was born July 27th, 1937 in Stephens County to Furman and Vivian McIntyre. There he grew up and met his true love Joyce Rice. They were married December 1st, 1956.
Aubrey spent over fifty years in his joint vocations of barbering and also ministering the Lord’s word. He was well renowned as a successful businessman in White County. He was a founding member of and served on the Board of Directors for Mountain Valley Community Bank. He also was honored to serve on the boards of his favorite charities: The Caring Hands Clinic and The Alzheimer’s Support Group local affiliate.
He was most well known for his time as a Pastor and Associate Pastor of many of White Counties and surrounding areas Churches. Many will remember feeling the blessing of hearing his singing of his well known rendition of “Visions of Heaven.” He was preceded in death by his parents and his five siblings, Peggy, Dalton, Jean, Charles, and Jo.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce and their four children, Terry McIntyre and his wife, Sabara, Cindy Hester, Dana Skelton and her husband, Mark, Denise Smith and her husband, Gary. They have five grandchildren, Nathan McIntyre, Candace McClure, Colt Hester, Erin Skelton, and Kelly Skelton. He and Joyce also shared eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Wayne Hicks and the Rev. Bobby Griffin will officiate. Interment will be at Gateway Memory Park.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home.
