Marty Holbrook

Obituary Date: Friday, June 5, 2015

Marty Lou LeFevers Holbrook passed away in Gainesville, Georgia June 5, 2015 after an extended illness.

Mrs. Holbrook was born in Kettle Island, Kentucky. She was the youngest of four children of the late Theodore R. and Mae Lillian Lock LeFevers. Her beloved siblings, Dorothy LeFevers Aiken, Shirley June LeFevers and Jimmy Lester LeFevers predeceased her. Mrs. Holbrook was married to the late Thomas Anderson Holbrook, Sr. for 43 years and together they raised three children.

Mrs. Holbrook graduated from Bell County High School in Pineville, Kentucky. She earned a Bachelors degree in education from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky then went on to the University of Louisville where she earned her Masters degree in art education. She was a gifted educator who taught for 34 years in Louisville, Kentucky and the Gwinnett county school system in Georgia.

She was an extraordinary hostess and thoroughly enjoyed entertaining her
family, friends and cherished neighbors. She was most renowned for her wonderful culinary skills at her amazing Kentucky Derby parties where she proudly shared her Kentucky heritage.

Mrs. Holbrook is survived by her children: Lydia Jane Holbrook Williams and husband, Paul David Williams of Columbia, SC, Thomas Anderson Holbrook, Jr. and wife, Jeanne Sturges Holbrook of Big Canoe GA, and Leslie Ann Holbrook of Dallas, GA., her grandchildren: Whitney Ann Williams, Hunter Thomas Williams and wife, Sarah Claytor Williams, Preston David Williams, and Mason Wesley Goodroe, two great grandchildren: Banks Thomas Williams and Locke Montgomery Williams. She is also survived by her nephews, James Thomas Holbrook, John Will Holbrook III, Samuel Woodford Holbrook, William Jennings Aiken, Jr. and niece, Caroline Aiken Koster.

She was passionate about her faith, her family and her beloved home state of Kentucky.

A private family memorial is planned. Mrs. Holbrook will be interred in Pineville, Kentucky. Her family wishes to extend thanks and gratitude to the many nurses, caregivers, ministers and social workers at Lanier Village Estates in Gainesville, Georgia. Their care and devotion to our mother will remain in our hearts for an eternity.
