Donna Kelser Collins

Donna Kelser Collins, age 54, of 667 Wesley Circle, Toccoa, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on the afternoon of Saturday, May 30, 2015 surrounded by her family.

A daughter of the late John Edward and Lessie Ward Kesler, she was born June 20, 1960 in Stephens County where she lived all of her life.  A graduate of Stephens County High School, she received an Associate’s Degree from Young Harris College and later received a B.S. Degree from the University of Georgia.  She then graduated from Piedmont College with a Master’s Degree, and later received her Specialist Degree from Argosy University in Florida.  Donna served in the Georgia School System for 30 years and recently retired as the Principal of Stephens County Middle School.  She was a member of the Griffin First Assembly of God, Northeast Georgia Campus, where she sang on the Praise Team.  Donna’s first love was serving her Savior, and she strived to live her life as a Godly example to those around her.  Donna was a strong, stubborn, and lively woman who had a generous and loving soul.  She was driven to excellence in everything she attempted, and never gave less than her best to anything.  Her kindness and welcoming spirit will not soon be forgotten by those who loved her.

Survivors include her husband, John “Barney” Collins of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Matthew Roush of Suwanee, GA; two sons and daughters-in-law, Justin and Brittany Collins of Savannah, GA, and Jacob and Adriana Collins of Dayton, OH; three grandchildren, Colson Collins, Caven Collins, and Addison Roush; her twin sister, Debra Grizzle and her husband, Donald, of Royston, GA.

Funeral services will be held at The Tugaloo Center for the Performing Arts, located on the campus of Stephens County High School, on Tuesday, June 2^nd, at 3:00 PM with The Reverend Randy Valimont, The Reverend Stan Eller, and The Reverend Jacob Collins officiating.  Gentlemen serving as pallbearers will be Jason Swiney, Joel Strickland, Tony Crunkleton, Matt Roush, Alex Hart, Dale Purcell, Clay Ware, and Mark Kesler and should assemble at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday at 2:15 PM.

The family will be at the home on Wesley Circle, Toccoa, and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Sunday and Monday evenings from 6 until 8 PM.
