Rev. Ernest Fuller

Obituary Date: Tuesday, May 26, 2015
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday May 29, 2015 at 11 a.m. at NewBridge Baptist Church for Rev. Ernest Fuller, 98, of Cleveland Highway, Gainesville Georgia passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family Tuesday May 26, 2015. Rev. Milton Harris, Rev. John Bowen, Rev. Rex Fuller and Rev. Lance Fuller will officiate. Interment will follow at New Bridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
 
Born April 4, 1917 in Gainesville, Ernest was the oldest of twelve children born to Will and Fannie Fuller. He was the oldest member of New Bridge Baptist Church. In 1956 he was ordained by New Bridge Baptist Church to preach the gospel. Mr. Fuller was affectionately known to many as “grandpa” or “pop”. All that knew him will forever be touched by his sweet demeanor, his hard work ethic and his loving prayers.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carine Cagle Fuller, of whom he was married to for 66 years; son, David Fuller; son in law, Harold Taylor; granddaughter, Cynthia Fuller; grandson, Trent Grant Fuller and great grandson, Michael Young; siblings, Lizzie Mae, CW, Herbert, Louise, Ruby Nell, Howard, Mary Lou, Betty Jean, Curtis and Eugene; father in law and mother in law, John Henry and Ida Cagle.
 
Ernest married Carine Cagle in 1938. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He worked in the New Holland Mill for 44 years and eventually retired at the age of 65. After retiring from the mill, Ernest began a new career in carpentry where he worked another 21 years. He was well known in the north Georgia area for his successul evangelistical work. Over the years, he pastored Bethlehem Baptist Church, Dukes Creek Baptist Church, Wauka Mountain Baptist Church and Etowah in Lumpkin County. As recent as 2014, Ernest assisted in spreading the gospel at local revivals.
 
Survivors include sons and daughters in law, Rev. Donald and Evelyn Fuller, Harold and Mildred Fuller, all of Cleveland, Robert and Patricia Fuller, Tignall, GA., Randolph “Pee Wee” and Ethelene Fuller, Lula, James and Janet Fuller, Gainesville, Melvin and Shuler Fuller, Clermont; daughters, Betty Fuller, Marilyn Fuller and Evelyn “Bootsie” Taylor, all of Gainesville; daughter in law, Jane Fuller, Brookton, GA., grandchildren, Hayward Fuller, Charles Fuller, Lisa Speidel, Kathy Bennett, Michael Fuller, Pam Cheeks, Chris Fuller, Ponda Jackson, Shane Wooten, Stacie Young, Jana Lovell, Tracy Huffman, Jason Ogletree, Melissa Savage, Crystal Little Summer, Melanie Fuller Hill, Michele Fuller Lester, Mark Fuller; brother and wife, Willard and Nell Fuller; brother in law and wife, Curtis and Ruth Cagle; sister in laws Betty Cagle, Cecil Cagle and Lila Fuller; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
 
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family would like to request all of the area preachers that knew and loved Ernest to please serve as honorary pallbearers. The family would also like to express their sincere thanks to the NEGA Medical Center Hospice team, Lajuania Lester, Sandy Mallon, Lori Sapp and Danyelle Smith.
