James L. "Jim" Broome

Obituary Date: Sunday, May 24, 2015

Funeral services will be held Friday May 29, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. in Ward's Funeral Home Chapel for James “Jim” Lawrence Broome, 72, of Gillsville. Rev. Jeff Gailey and Rev. Martha Sue Morrison will officiate. Interment will follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Broome passed away May 24, 2015.

 
Mr. Broome served as a Sargeant with the United States Marine Corps. From Dec. 18, 1967 to April 24, 1970. He worked at Chapmans Auto from 1970-1980 and was the owner of B & B Automotives from 1980-1986.
 
He worked at the Wrigley's Company from 1986-2006 retiring at Supervisor. Mr. Broome was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, James “Jim” Broome and Willma Ruth Wehunt Broome Granger.
 
A wonderful loving husband and amazing father. You have filled our lives with more joy and happiness than we could have ever dreamed of. For 40 years you have been the love of my love. You will truly be missed, our lives will never be the same without you.
 
Survivors include wife, Betty J. Broome; son, Dustin James Broome, Gainesville; sister, Linda Janice Smith, Gainesville; nephews, Greg Smith Tim Smith; niece, Pam Gee; great niece, Kindel; great nephew, Hunter; other surviving children, Kim, Cindy, Tracy and Scott Broom; grandchildren, Chris, Cassye, A.J. And Jessica (deceased).
