Robert John Pollock, Jr.

Obituary Date: Saturday, May 23, 2015
 Dr. Robert “Bob” John Pollock, Jr., age 82, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015 surrounded by his loved ones at Lanier Village Estates.
            
Celebration of Life services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Lanier Village Estates Chapel. Reverend Richard Evans and Reverend James Winn will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at Lanier Village.
           
 Dr. Pollock was born April 15, 1933 in Oak Park, Illinois the son of the late Robert John Pollock, Sr. and Irma Runion Pollock.  He graduated from Oak Park-River Forest Township High School, Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, Pre-dentistry; Northwestern University Dental School, Chicago, IL, DDS; Loyola University School of Dentistry, Chicago, Periodontics Specialty; Loyola University Graduate School, M.S. and Ph.D.
           
 He served in the United States Air Force Dental Corp from 1956 -1958. He started his private practice in 1958 to 1962 and moved to Periodontics from 1962 to 1980; He served as Professor and Chairman of Histology, Loyola University Medical Center from 1967 to 1980; Assistant Executive Director for Education and Hospital American Dental Association from 1980-1982; He was a part-time Professor of Histology at Loyola University Medical Center, 1982 to 1987; and practiced private Periodontics from 1982 to present. He was a member of the American Academy of Periodontics.
           
 He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Alan Pollock.
He was a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Norcross. Dr. Pollock loved travel, researching genealogy, reading, family, photography and people.
            
He is survived by his wife, Patricia James Pollock; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn Parrish (Darrell); Beth Nesta (Donald); grandchildren, Kevin (Jackie), Jason, Mark, Daniel; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Debra; sister, Jean Fox (John) sister-in-law, Marilyn Pollock and his beloved West Highland Terrier, Holly.
           
 In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Samaritan Fund at Lanier Village Estates 4200 Misty Morning Way Gainesville, GA 30506.
