Mrs. Virginia R. Pinyan, 90, of Gainesville passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2015 following a period of declining health.
Born on July 5, 1924 in Greenville, GA., she was the daughter of the late Luther Byrd Roberts and Minnie Dea Cato Roberts.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Henry S. Pinyan, Jr.
Mrs. Pinyan was the first Chairman of Red Cross Lanier Park Hospital Volunteers and President of the Pilot Club. She sang in the choir and also served as Dr. Ginn’s secretary at The First Baptist Church where she was also a member. She also worked as the legal secretary for Judge A.R. Kenyon for a number of years.
Mrs. Pinyan is survived by her daughter and son in law, Judy and Gene Conway of Morrow, GA; son, Henry R. Pinyan, III of Eatonton, GA.; daughter and son in law, Sallie and Bill Faircloth of Marietta, GA.; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Little Davenport Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home Wednesday, May 27 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Bruce Fields will officiate the service. Interment will be in Alta Vista Cemetery.
