John Joseph Hartzell

Mr. John (Jack) Joseph Hartzell of Dahlonega, Ga and formerly of Boca Raton Florida, passed away on May 20th, 2015 following a brief illness.  Mr. Hartzell was a Fire Marshall, Captain and the last of the original eight full time paid firefighters of the Boca Raton Fire Department, dating from 1962.  He was of Catholic faith.

Mr. Hartzell is preceded by his parents Jacob Hartzell and Ethel Fitzgerald Hartzell; sisters in law and husbands Emma and Charles Ormsby; Dorothy and Edward McNamee, all from Philadelphia, Pa.

John is survived by his loving wife Teresa Delores Hartzell; son Michael Hartzell and his wife Linda; grandsons Stephen Rashkind Hartzell and James Eric Hartzell; and brother in law Joseph Altimari.  Numerous other nieces and nephews also survive.

A prayer service will be held Sunday May 24, 2015 at 1:30pm at Dahlonega Funeral Home, the family will then receive friends from 2pm to 4pm with a graveside service following at 4:30pm at Dahlonega Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will host a reception following the burial at Dahlonega Funeral Home’s Community Room.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Homestead Hospice in John’s honor at 10888 Crabapple Road Roswell, Ga 30075.
