Loren Dale 'Rip' Collins

Loren Dale “Rip” Collins, 97, of Oakwood passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at his residence following a sudden illness.          

Services will be announced at a later date.          

Mr. Collins was born on September 9, 1917 in Orleans, Indiana to the late Russell Emory and Opha Brooks Collins. He was a contractor for municipal water and waste treatment. He also served in the United States Navy. He was a former member of Lake Lanier Sailing Club and University Yacht Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Winnie Mae Collins; brother, Doyle Gene “Red” Collins; sister-in-law, Barbara Smith Collins.

Mr. Collins is survived by his wife, Joyce Taylor Collins of Oakwood; son and daughter-in-law, James M. and Edith Collins of Buford; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Elizabeth and Terry Joyner of Dallas, GA; granddaughters, Bethany, Julia and Mariel Shields; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Peggy Collins.
