Mitchell Lee Easter of Cumming, GA, passed into his next adventure on May 7, 2015.
Mitchell was born and reared on a dairy farm in Amelia County, Virginia, son of Howard & Flossie Easter.
A veteran of the US Army, served in the 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper. An avid pilot, member of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) and builder of his own airplane.
He was a graduate of Amelia High School and Virginia Commonwealth University. He was a licensed ICC Practitioner and a part of the transportation industry for over 40 years. Ever the entrepreneur, Mitchell owned and operated three temporary service franchises located in Georgia.
Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Flossie Easter, his two sons Mark Steven Easter, Brookville, OH and Paul Howard Easter, Osaka, Japan, his brothers Howard Easter, Jr. of Amelia, VA, Garland Easter of Fisherville, VA, brother in law Richard Donahue, Disputanta, VA.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years Kathy Hacker, his daughter Jennifer Lee Easter of Nashville, TN with Janet Wagner Easter of Centerville, OH, his sisters Rebecca Denny (Ranny) of Hopewell, VA, Rachel Dickerson (Duke) of Chester, VA, Dana Donahue of Disputanta, VA, brother Pete (Jeannie) of Amelia, VA, and sisters-in-law Julia Easter of Amelia, VA and JoAnne Easter of Fisherville, VA, his grandchildren Julie of FL, Paula and Emily Easter of Brookville, OH as well as four great grandchildren.
As a lifelong student, he studied and visited every Civil War battlefield and memorial in the United States. He loved travel and all modes of transportation. He enjoyed having his hands in the soil, gardening and growing vegetables and cotton. His favorite hobby was following the local and national political scene. Many of his editorial writings were published in the Forsyth County News and AJC newspapers. He was dedicated to his responsibility to participate in our democracy by regularly writing and engaging his Senators and Congressmen.
A celebration of Mitchell Easter’s life will be held Wednesday May 13, 2015 at 11:00 am at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
