Mr. David T. Cabe, age 92, of 260 Terrell Drive, Toccoa, Georgia, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015, at Stephens County Hospital.
A son of the late Mount Cecil and Sarah Lou Slay Cabe, he was born September 9, 1922 in Otto, North Carolina and lived most of his life in Stephens County. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church and retired from Cash and Thomas after 18 years of service. David was a U.S. Army World War II Veteran and was a two Bronze Stars Purple Heart recipient. He dearly loved his family and was well-known in the community for sharing his garden and vegetable plants with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mozelle Yearwood Cabe; two daughters and a son-in-law, Diane and Kyle Adams of Toccoa, and Wanda Kirkman of Sanford, Florida; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Debie Floyd of Mooresville, NC; a daughter-in-law, Judy Floyd of Toccoa; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Pauline Addison of Toccoa, and Helen and Bill Dietrich of Toccoa. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Floyd; three brothers: Willard, Richard, and Bradford Cabe; a sister, Dorothy Collins; and a son-in-law, Jerry Kirkman.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 12th in the Hillcrest Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerrell Beatty officiating. The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon until 1:30 PM Tuesday, prior to the service. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers will be John Bailey, Michael Zaino, Andrew Floyd, and Wesley Kelley.
