Margie Melvinnie Nations Wheeler, age 91, of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015.
Born on May 13, 1923, in White County, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Collins Nations. Mrs. Wheeler was a retired machine operator and in her spare time she enjoyed cooking, quilting, fishing, and going to yard sales. She was of the holiness faith.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Earl Wheeler; sons, Elmer, Roy, and Eugene Wheeler; son-in-laws, Julian Garrett and Ralph Durden; brothers, Floyd, Odell, Arthur, and Jesse James Nations; sisters, Idell Owens and Eula Mae Price; grandchildren, Pamela Chastain and Stacy Tench; and great-grandson, Shay Hunt.
Survivors include children, Joe (Nina) Wheeler of Cleveland, Shirley Garrett of Mt. Airy, Betty Durden of Toccoa, Brenda (Tommy) Payne of Cleveland, and Tommy Wheeler of Cornelia; brother, Rayburn Nations of Mt. Airy; sisters, Ethel Freeman, Gracey Mae McEllen, and Annie Bell Arrowood all of Cleveland, Nancy Poole of Gillsville, and Lullabell Powers of Cornelia; eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services are 11:00 am Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with Rev. Lester Haynes officiating. Interment will follow in The Wheeler Family Cemetery with Mr. Jimmy Wheeler officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
