Mr. Newton Charles “Butch” Oki, age 70, of Dahlonega passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, May 07, 2015, following an extended illness.
A native of Geneva, Illinois, Butch was born to parents Thomas and Kikue Oki on July 22, 1944. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968 and retired in 2005 from the Metropolitan Sanitary District of Greater Chicago where he served as a sanitary engineer. He was a loving son, father, grandpa and husband.
Mr. Oki is preceed in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of twenty years, Judy Ann Hurley Oki, daughters; Jamie (Kevin) Purvis, Melody Oki (Troy Armstrong), and Ursula (Jarad) Allen, grandchildren; Natesha Bagwell, Tara Panella, LaKrista Ritchie, Keirsten Purvis, Kylei Purvis, Devin Watson, Yazzmyn Milligan, Jeramy Milligan Jr., Myiah Johnson and Kanon Allen, great grandson, Ashton Ritchie. He is also survived by sisters; Geraldine Hikida, Kathy Bessieres, Mary Oki and Ruthie Rouser. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 10, 2015 in the chapel of Dahlonega Funeral Home. Rev. Gary Greenwald will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4pm until the service time.
