A proud World War II Navy veteran, Max served in the Pacific along with his two brothers. His early married years were spent in Southern California working for the Douglas Company after which he continued his career in the aerospace industry with the Hi-Shear Corporation in Huntsville, AL and Atlanta, GA. Throughout his lifetime, Max had a love of music, whether he was playing the trumpet in a band during the war, writing songs for his daughter Cindy to record, or just listening to his granddaughters play the piano. Also an avid shooter, Max enjoyed spending his Mondays at the gun club with his fellow riflemen, impressing each other with their marksmanship. He had quite a collection of rifles, building the most impressive of them himself. Of utmost importance to Max was his upbringing and membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
After living in Dunwoody for 18 years, Max and Joy moved to Olde Atlanta Club in Forsyth County, where he enjoyed working with other retirees as a starter on the golf course. He and Joy formed many close friendships in this wonderful community before deciding to move to an active adult community in Cumming, GA. Both of these homes have been only minutes away from Kim and Larry and their girls, allowing for countless shared meals, vacations, and treasured memories.
Because of his lifelong patriotic nature and undying appreciation of the military, his family requests that in lieu of flowers, friends consider making a donation in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.thewoundedwarriorproject.org.
