Henry Sherman Pinyan, Jr.

Henry Sherman Pinyan, Jr., 93, of Gainesville passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015.Born in Canton, Ga on May 24, 1921, he was the son of the late Henry Sherman Pinyan, Sr. and Sallie Darby Pinyan. He was retired from the City of Gainesville where he was City Clerk and at one time was City Manager. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Army.  He was in the Solomon Island Campaign in the Pacific. Mr. Pinyan received the Bronze Star.

 

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather.

 

Mr. Pinyan is survived by his wife of 72 years, Virginia Pinyan of Gainesville; daughter and son in law, Judy and Gene Conway of Morrow, GA.; son, Henry Pinyan, III of Eatonton, GA.; daughter and son in law, Sallie and Bill Faircloth of Marietta, GA.; brother, Bill Pinyan of Black Mountain, NC; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2015 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Rev. Bruce Fields will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 1, 2015

from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Interment will be in Alta Vista Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Good News Clinic, 810 Pine St, Gainesville, GA. 30501or to the First Baptist Church Building Fund 751 Green Street, Gainesville, GA. 30501.
