Ferne Simmons Meaders

Mrs. Ferne Simmons Meaders, age 73 of 416 Joe Smith Road, Mt. Airy, Georgia passed away Monday, April 27, 2015 at Pruitt Health Toccoa.

A daughter of the late Jesse and Cleo Cotton Simmons, she was born March 17, 1942 in Hart County, Georgia having lived most of her life in Habersham County.  She was retired from Habersham Mills and was a member of Stonepile Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Meaders in 1994, a son Jack “Klondike” Meaders in 2013 and by a sister, Clide Ellen McConnell.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Glenn House of Mt. Airy, Georgia and Becky and William Fisher of Clarkesville, Georgia; Danny “Tom” and Shelia Meaders of Toccoa; grandchildren, Erin Fisher Higgins and Justin and Alisha Fisher Cantrell and Jonathan; great-grandchildren, Desmond Higgins and Jett Cantrell; brother and sister-in-law, Charles “Sonny” and Sue Simmons of Demorest, Georgia; sisters and brother-in-law, Judy and Odis Alexander of Cleveland, Georgia and Sylvia Ann Shockley of Toccoa.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 29, 11 O’clock AM at Stonepile Baptist Church with the Reverend Connie Berry officiating. 

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 PM to 8 PM. 

Interment will be in the Stonepile Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Ferne Simmons Meaders.
