Eugene Curtis (Pop) Thompson, age 79, of Cumming passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015. Curtis was a wonderful and humble man who was loved by all, including his dogs. He retired in 1999 from Forsyth County High School where, for 31 years, he taught Automotive and Small Engine Repair. A lifelong Baptist, Curtis was a charter member of Cumming Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Barbara B. Thompson; sons and daughters-in-law, Matt and Jill Thompson, Clint and Gina Thompson; grandchildren, Brooke, Mandy and Kylie Thompson, brother and sister-in-law, Andrew (Andy) and Faye Thompson, brother-in law and sister-in-law, Joe and Mary Brooks; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jane and Gene Chambers, all of Cumming; his life-long best friend, Lamar Pendley and former co-worker, Ralph Martin and a number of loved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 24, at 2:00 p.m. at Ingram Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Bennett and Dr. Barry Crocker officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., and on Friday from 12:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Cumming Baptist Church Building Fund or the Forsyth County Humane Society.
