Mary Ann 'Mim' Thompson Phillips

Mrs. Mary Ann “Mim” Thompson Phillips, age 77, of Dahlonega passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 following an extended illness.

A native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County, Mrs. Phillips was born to parents, Wesley and Susie Brookshire Thompson on August 18, 1937. She was formerly employed by North Georgia College for twenty years and was more recently the owner and operator of Mim’s Ice Cream Shop on the Dahlonega square for eleven years. During these years, she was also in demand as a caterer for weddings and other special events. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Blue Mountain Chapter #333 and past president of the American Legion Auxillary in Alpharetta, Georgia. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, and a friend to many.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Phillips was preceeded in death by a daughter, Beverly Phillips Wimpy, grandson; Zeb Wimpy, sisters; Yvonne Patton, Marion Hogwood and Billie Woodall, brothers; Ollie Thompson, David Thompson, and Charles Thompson. She is survived by daughters; Cindy Lindsey (Hank Graff), of Houston, TX, Jo Phillips and Tammy Martin both of Dahlonega, grandson; Jeremy Martin, sister; Lelia Stowers and brother; George (Peggy) Thompson. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, April 25, 2015 in the chapel of Dahlonega Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Hogwood and Rev. Michael Rodgers officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem-Jones Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 P.M. until the service hour.
