Donald James Ivie, Sr.

Donald James Ivie, Sr., age 80, of Baldwin, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2015. 

Mr. Ivie was born April 4, 1935 in Habersham County to the late Taft and Maybelle Irvin Ivie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Boggs Ivie;  daughter, Barbara McDuffie; and son, Donald Ivie, Jr.  He was a member of the Eastside Baptist Temple, Texas, Grant Reeves VFW Post # 7720 and Hollingsworth Masonic Lodge # 355 F & A M.   Mr. Ivie was retired from the United States Army with 21 years of service. 

Survivors include his sisters, Charlotte McConnell, Cornelia, GA, Sandra Horne, Cornelia, GA; brother, Levis Ivie, Commerce, GA; granddaughters, Michelle McDuffie, Cornelia, GA, Barbara (B.J.) Parham, Mt. Airy, GA; great grandchildren, Kenslee McDuffie, Jailyn McDaniel, Jaidyn Parham, Hailee Parham, Nicholas Parham; special friends, Darryl and Teresa Meister, Baldwin, GA, and Brian and April Smith, Baldwin, GA.    

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel,  with Rev. Darvin Slaton officiating. Burial will be in the Grant Reeves VFW Cemetery in Demorest, GA, with full military honors provided by United States Army Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Friday, April 10, 2015 at the funeral home.
