Stonewall Jackson Shirley, Jr. DVM

Stonewall Jackson Shirley, Jr, DVM, age 84, of Commerce, GA died Monday, April 6, 2015 at Northridge Medical Center.  Dr. Shirley was born in Douglas, GA to the late Stonewall Jackson Shirley, Sr. and Anna Deane Bridges Shirley.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Commerce and was a retired veterinarian at Commerce Veterinary Hospital for over 30 years.  Dr. Shirley was also owner of Shirley Feed and Seed and was a cattle farmer.

Dr. Shirley is survived by his wife, Genevieve Aspin Wall Shirley of Commerce; sons, Stone Shirley, III, Mark Shirley and Chris Shirley all of Commerce; daughter, Susan Harvin of Commerce; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be 11 AM, Thursday, April 9 at First Baptist Church of Commerce with Dr. Carlton Allen and Rev. Ray Austin officiating.  Interment will follow in Jackson Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 9 PM.
