James “Larry” Hammett age 74 of Dahlonega passed away on April 1st, 2015 following a brief illness.
Mr. Hammett grew up in Lathonia and moved to Stone Mountain, later retiring to Dahlonega. Mr. Hammett retired from ABH Freight line Teamster Union. He loved playing guitar with Gospel Sound of Stone Mountain Quartet and numerous other groups. He played for 13 years at the Georgia Mountain Fair in the Pioneer Village. He was a devoted husband, father, and pop pop. He will be dearly missed.
Mr. Hammett is preceeded by his parents James Aaron Hammett and Rachel L. Bullock Hammett.
Mr. Hammett is survived by his wife Sandra Hammett, daughters Kimberly (Ken) Wood of Dahlonega, GA Jenifer (Anthony) Cheaves of Acworth, GA; brother Jerry Hammett of Dublin, CA; grandchildren Taylor Lincoln, Matthew Lincoln, Joy Wood, Chris Wood, Brennan Wood, Joshua Cheaves, Jessica Cheaves, and Jared Cheaves, and four great grandchildren. Mr. Hammett is also survived by his best bud a black lab named Dooley.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday April 3rd at 2:30 pm at the chapel of Dahlonega Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Dahlonega Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Thursday April 2, 2015 from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm and Friday from 12:30 pm until the time of service.
