Samuel 'Sammy' Alexander Rider

Samuel "Sammy" Alexander Rider, age 72 of Gainesville, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.


Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Christian Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Kenneth Pilcher and Reverend Ricky Jones will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from 2 - 4 pm and 6 - 9 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Rider was born April 24, 1942 in Dahlonega, Georgia to the late Charlie Glenn Rider and Emma Elizabeth Brookshire Rider. He retired from City of Gainesville and was a member of Christian Baptist Church. Sammy was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Cecile L. Thompson.

Mr. Rider is survived by his wife, Vickey Rider of Gainesville, sisters, Bessie Sullens of Jefferson and Annie Marie Posten of Gainesville, brothers & sisters-in-law, Leonard & Rosie Mae Rider of Flowery Branch and Bobby & Jewell Rider of Interlachen, Florida, brother, Leon Rider of Gainesville and several nieces and nephews.
