John Palmour
Obituary Date: Sunday, March 29, 2015
John Palmour, age 76 of Cleveland, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Palmour was born on August 30, 1938 in Cleveland, Ga to the late Daniel Luther Palmour and Clara Ash Palmour. He represented his country with his military service in the US Army and served the residents of Cleveland as a city council member for 36 consecutive years.
He was an active member of Cleveland First Baptist Church and a charter member of the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class for 41 years.
After leaving Talon Zippers where he was employed for 20 years, he was involved in many business endeavors including residential and commercial development and building, real estate, restaurants, rental properties, etc. He served on the board of Regions Bank and the White County Water Authority along with serving on the White County Board of Health.
Mr. Palmour graduated from Tallulah Falls High School and was just recently selected as an outstanding former student of the school. He enjoyed the outdoors with hunting, fishing, and regular gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Julia Ann (Judy) Pitman Palmour; son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Tonya Palmour; granddaughter, Samantha Palmour.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Gary Heffner and the Rev. Dennis Turner will officiate. Interment will follow at Yonah View Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
