Edith Cleo Black Lance

Edith Cleo Black Lance, "Ma", age 77, of Dahlonega, GA passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015.

She was a lifelong resident of Lumpkin County, a homemaker, and of the Baptist faith.

Edith was preceded in death by her mother, Nell Black Adams; husband, Talmadge Lance; infant son, Ricky Talmadge Lance; daughter, Reba Martin; brothers, John Henry and Buck Black; and sisters, Edna Merck, Vernell Black, Claudean Adams, and Ruby McKinzey.

She is survived by her son, Jeff "Bodean" Lance; daughter, Rita Lance Canupp; daughter and son-in-law, Lola and Rich Taylor; son-in-law, Jerry Martin, all of Dahlonega, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and LaRue Adams; sister, Bessie English, all of Dawsonville, GA; grandchildren, Chris and Whitney Christy, Rick and Alison Christy, Danni and Jody Piper, Jody and Mindy Martin, Tammy and Ken Martin-McNeal, and Taylor Kidd. 8 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Edith are scheduled for 11 AM Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA.

Interment will follow in the Hightower Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.

Rev. Andy Caldwell and Rev. Tommy Ross will officiate.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega from 4 PM until 9 PM on Thursday, March 26, 2015, and all day on Friday, March 27, 2015.
