Born December 3, 1919 in Tuskegee, Alabama, she lived a long and loving life, and was preceded in death by her husband and best friend of 46 years Charles D. Giddings. For more than four decades, Hazel and Charles lived in their sun-warmed, antique home on a rolling gentleman's farm outside of Clarksville, Tennessee. The farm was a place of respite, comfort and joy for all who occasioned it. She loved her family and friends, the dogs, the cows and horses, flowers, earrings and the occasional fried catfish. She was a member of St. Bethlehem United Methodist Church while in Adams and attended Dawsonville Church of God of Prophecy and Harbor Worship Center in Dawsonville, Georgia while in Georgia. She was also preceded in death by sisters Janie Walker and Sadie Hodges, brother Buddy McEachern, and beloved niece Sybil Cutlip.
She is survived by a family who will miss her and cherish her memory always: daughters Jan Giddings Dragin of Marion, Massachusetts, Danielle Giddings Kelly of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Kay Giddings Kousek of Canton, Georgia; sister Jo Anne Powers of Dallas, Georgia; four grandchildren: Jason Edward Thornton, Andrew Roland Thornton, Sean Sebastian Kelly, and Jennifer Ivey Scragg; nine great-grandchildren: Slayter Kousek, Nick Martens, Rachel Kelly, Benjamin Kelly, Aysa Rich, Renae Thornton, Jennell Thornton, Ryan Thornton and Cameron Thornton; and numerous beloved nephews and nieces: John Giddings (Winona), Marie Duncan, Amy Pittard (Tommy), Stacey Koyashiki (Makoto), Sara Hodges, Jim Walker, Dennis Hodges (Carol), Robert Walker, Kenny Walker, Shanks Hodges, Ricky Walker; and best-friends-forever for over 30 years Preston Holt, his late wife Bonnie and Mike Mannion.
