Barbara Evelyn Satterfield McDonald

Mrs. Barbara Evelyn Satterfield McDonald, age 73 of Gainesville, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness.

Graveside services are scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 2:00 pm in Hightower Baptist Church Cemetery, Dahlonega, Georgia. Reverend Bradley Elliott will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, prior to the service, at Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville.
Mrs. McDonald was born May 29, 1941 in Dahlonega, Georgia to the late Noah W. Satterfield and Lillie Mae Lance Satterfield. She was a licensed hair dresser for many years, and retired from Potter & Brumfield. However, her passion was family genealogy. Barbara has written and published several books on the Lance and Satterfield families of Lumpkin and surrounding counties in Georgia. Barbara and Bob spent many hours looking through documents at the libraries, court houses and identifying markers at graveyards while researching family history. She also loved to paint portraits and scenery pictures. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert Henry McDonald.

Mrs. McDonald is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Angie Coley McClure & Louis McClure, her son & daughter-in-law, Dywayne & Donna Coley, grandchildren, Melissa Broxson, Allison Brooks, Mallory Coley, Brian Coley, Kyle McClure and Clayton McClure, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Air Line Baptist Church, 3368 White Sulphur Road, Gainesville, Georgia 30501 in her honor.
