Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. George Perry Tate, age 82, of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Thursday, March 12, 2015. Mr. Tate was born in Commerce, Georgia, a son to the late Geoffry Perry Tate and the late Effie Cochran Tate. Mr. Tate was a retired Chemist Assistant with Rohne Polenc, was of the Baptist Faith, and a veteran of the US Army, serving in the Korean War. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tate was preceded in death by his sisters, Annette Skelton and Amanda Sue Howard.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Judy Wood Tate of Jefferson; sons and daughters in law, James and Karen Tate of Melfa, VA, George and Sherri Tate of Opelika, AL; daughters and sons in law, Donna Tate of Hugheytown, AL, Vanessa and Ricky Craft of Opelika, AL, Jennifer and Brian Clark of Jefferson; brothers and sister in law, Larry Wood, Bascom Skelton, and Jean Wood, 10 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren, niece and nephew, Sue and Steve Brooks, special caregiver, Marthalene Logan and special friends, Frank and Gail Kimbrell.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 16, 2015 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Hardy officiating. The burial will follow in the Woodbine Cemetery with Allan Craft, Justin Craft, C.J. Clark, Bubba Tatum, Eli Studivant and Jackie McClusky honored as pallbearers. Great Grandsons, Trenton Craft, Will Craft, Heath Craft and Austin Tate will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, 5-7pm at Evans Funeral Home.
Flowers are optional with memorials made to the charity of one's choice.
