Mildred Kathryn Whitfield Garrett Sosby

Mildred Kathryn Whitfield Garrett Sosby, age 86, of Toccoa, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at her daughter's home in Gainesville.



Born July 10, 1928 in Franklin County, GA, she was a daughter of the late William Edgar and Blanche Whitlow Whitfield.



She was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She also retired from Coats and Clark and Stephens County Hospital. Mildred was a longtime resident of Toccoa and enjoyed golf, walking with her buddies and most of all, she loved her family.



Family members include daughters and sons-in-law, Gwen and Milton Finley of Waleska, Carolyn and Paul Rice of Toccoa, Kathy and Donnie Hunt of Gainesville, and Candy and Tony Addison of Toccoa; sisters, Mary Roberson, Willie Jo Meeks, Patsy Hicks, and Faye Herron all of Toccoa; brother, Tommy Whitfield of Toccoa; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend and caregiver, Joyce Owens.



She was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Debbie Garrett; brothers, Hubert, Herbert, Jack, Homer, Almon, and Bobby Whitfield.



Funeral service will be held at three o'clock Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Zebulon Baptist Church with the Rev. Ty Childers and Dr. Tom Smiley officiating.



Burial will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Matt Bowman officiating at the graveside service.



Grandsons will serve as pallbearers; Russell Finley, Robert Finley, Rocky Garrett, Bryan Rice, Steven Rice, Jamey Addison, Randall Addison, and Jared Hunt.



The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 5pm
