Faye Dowdy Bleskan

Faye Dowdy Bleskan, age 88, of Dahlonega, GA passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at North East GA Hospital Hospice following an extended illness.

She was born and raised in Lumpkin County, spent a number of years in Chicago, IL, and returned to Dahlonega, GA for the past 11 years. She retired from Nabisco after 32 years of service, and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.

Faye was the daughter of the late Paul and Belle Dowdy, and was also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Mae and Bill Cain; and brother, Carl Dowdy.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, John Bleskan, Dahlonega, GA; daughters, Dianne (James) Lomax, Worth, IL; and Delores Edwards, Dahlonega, GA; grandchildren, John (Leslie) Lomax, Jennifer (Duane) Glassco; great grandchildren, Brian and Jeffery Glassco; and nephews, Randall Cain, Horn Lake, MS, and Philip Cain, Dahlonega, GA. Many special friends and a number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Faye are scheduled for 1 PM Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA.

Rev. Allen Swafford, Rev. Shane Wehunt, and Rev. Terry Fields will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega from 3 PM until 9 PM on Friday, March 13, 2015, and from 9 AM until service time on Saturday, March 14, 2015.
