Elda Chumbley Looper

Elda Chumbley Looper, 68, of Dawsonville passed away Saturday March 7, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a short illness.
Born February 2, 1947 in Lumpkin County, she lived most of her life in Dawson County. A homemaker at her death, Elda was the first director of the Dawson County Child Development Center and was formerly employed by the Dawson County Board of Education. She also formerly co-owned The Sweet Shop in Dawsonville and also owned and operated Cottage Creations. Mrs. Looper was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church and was also preceded in death by her father, Edgar Chumbley and her first husband, Lewis Phillips.
Surviving are her husband of 38 years, William S. "Bill" Looper, Dawsonville; children, Debbie and James Parks, Danette Moulder, Denna Hardin, James Phillips, all of Dawsonville; mother, Gladys Bennett, Dawsonville; brothers, Timmy Goode, Terry Goode, Troy Goode, Tracy Goode, all of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Eric and Michelle Hardin, Tony and Carrie Ingram, Kristen and Adam Stinson, Amanda and Eric Farley, Matthew Parks; great grandsons, Riley Hardin, Austin Hardin, Andrew Hardin, Ezekiel Farley, Azariah Farley, Parker Ingram, and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 10, 2015 at 2 o'clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Harold Evans and Rev. Rodney Pilcher will officiate. Interment will follow in the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 until 8 and all day Monday until 8 at the funeral home.
