Mr. Julian R. Allgood, age 98, of Lawrenceville GA passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Ethel Allgood, Sr.; and his great-great granddaughter, Kenzlynn Maddox. He is survived by his wife of seventy-two years, Mrs. Jewel Morrison Allgood; daughter and son-in-law, Menninette and Jerry Kline, Lawrenceville, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Earl and Vivian Allgood, Loganville, GA, and Raymond Carl and Deborah Allgood, Winder, GA; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Allgood was a native of Jefferson County, AL. Before moving to Georgia, he and his wife lived in Hueytown, AL for forty-four years during which time they were members of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church where they spent many years working together in the church nursery. Mr. Allgood was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II in North Africa and Europe. He was one of the original 82nd Airborne Division and served in the European Theater of Operations, including the D-Day Invasion and Battle of the Bulge. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart with Clusters for his service. He was a retired miner with a U. S. Steel Company. He was a member of Sugar Hill Church, Sugar Hill, GA. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 8, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Allen officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens, Buford, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until time of service.
